QUIET PADDLE POLICY In an effort to be good SVE neighbors, the Pickleball Club Board of Directors is implementing a “quiet paddle” policy for all scheduled Club court time. Although there is no approved noise rating published by any governing body (USAPA or IPF), the most comprehensive study has been done by Sun City Grand in Surprise, Arizona. This community has over 1,200 pickleball club members that play on 22 courts. We have been aware of this study for several years and have chosen to join with Sun City Grand and with the other community pickleball clubs in their efforts to be good neighbors.
For the last several years, all of the paddles sold by our club to members and other residents in the SVE community are on the approved “quiet paddle” list used by Sun City Grand. The majority of our members now have paddles on this list and we are asking that our club members and SVE residents consult the website for a list of quiet paddles when purchasing a new paddle:
This list is also posted on the Pickleball Club bulletin board. Our effort to be good SVE neighbors also includes using the best “quiet” ball on the market which is currently the Onix Pure 2 pickleball ball. We have been using these balls for several years, and although they are expensive, we feel that it is worth the extra cost to use a low noise ball. The SVE Pickleball Club members are committed to do everything reasonable to be good neighbors in our SVE community.
Sunland Village East Pickleball Club Policies
- Payment of dues: Payment is required for membership in the SVE Pickleball Club. Dues shall be paid on January 1 or upon your arrival in SVE. Dues must be paid prior to play in any member club activities (member open play, round robins, etc.)
Dues are payable to SVE Pickleball Club and should be given to the SVE PB Club Treasurer along with the membership form every year.
- Name badges: Members are required to wear current club-provided name badges while playing during all club member play times. If you forgot your badge, please go get it.
- Code of Conduct: All members shall follow the Pickleball Club’s Code of Conduct. This is posted on the bulletin board as well as on the SVEPickleball.com webpage.
- Attire: Proper court attire and shoes with non-marking soles are required.
- No food or drinks (except water) of any kind on the courts.
- Music: Music can be distracting to players; please keep volume moderate and turn off music when asked by other players.
- Equipment & courts: Respect all club equipment, courts, and all club property.
- Open courts: Any open court is available on a first-come, first-serve basis for any residents at any time. During a scheduled club event please ask if the court is available before using it.
- Paddle rotation: The paddle rack shall be used during Club Member play time. Paddle rotation is from left to right. Please do not move another player’s paddle.
- Schedule change: Any club members requesting a change in the club schedule shall submit a written proposal to the Court Schedule Committee for review and that committee shall make a recommendation to the Executive Board for consideration.
- 11. Club meeting and Membership attendance: Club Members shall check in at all Club meetings, both regular meetings and special meetings. There will be a current Club Membership check-in sheet at all meetings to verify that there is a quorum and that all attendees have voting rights. 02/12/2023
